It was build during the year of 1668 by the duke of Trier, Carl Caspar von der Leyen for the purpose of a "Zehnthouse" (administration building to collect the taxes paid by the farmers and winegrowers to the duke). The renovation during 1830 turned it for the first time into a wine-tasting pub; which then expanded in 1974 into the hotel as we today know it.
